Good morning Friends! I hope you all have had a great week so far! Coming up just shy eight hours of sleep last night, and 8 + hours on Friday night, I certainly feel adequately rested! Sometimes catching up on sleep is a challenge for me on weekends because I tend to be out later than on the week nights, and drink more caffeine, but I am working to cut back on those habits a bit 🙂 This week was all about awareness. I tracked my food and exercise most days this week, and I also checked in with my emotions, either mentally, or on paper. It feels good to own up to my decisions with food and exercise. From a digestive stand point, tracking my food intake has also help see what foods I need to balance in my day-to-day diet, i.e., if I have avocado in my salad for lunch, I probably shouldn’t have it with dinner (too much fat to digest), or if I sautéed Kale for dinner, I probably
should have the leftovers for lunch the next day (complex fiber = gas explosion).
A couple mealtime photos
When preparing for a lunch out at Chipotle with a co-worker, I was surprised to find out how aware they are about one’s nutritional needs, and that their tortillas and chips are gluten-free!! I planned ahead and ordered a salad bowl with brown rice, black beans, and lots of veggies. I got a bag of chips on the side, and didn’t finish the bag, nor, did I take it home with me!
All in all, it was a great “first week” of my journey to “self-betterment”. I just thought of that word, so I’m sure there will be an explanatory post on that later 🙂
