Highlights of this Week

Happy Friday!!

Here are some highlights of this week:

A neighbor’s herb garden I’ve enjoyed watching grow.

Drinking my breakfasts. Smoothies are SO refreshing!

A visit from this little boy at work!

The design on this Illume candle, although, I don’t think the scent can be easily detected!!

Hosting Supper Club for these ladies.

All the natural light I get in my apartment! ☀️

Have a wonderful weekend!

Apples Return & Weekend!

Good morning! Man, you can really tell a difference when you have both days off on the weekend, versus one! This is just a reminder to be grateful.

Not only did I have an extra day, but the weather was GLORIOUS!! I took full advantage of the outdoors by jogging and power walking around my parent’s neighborhood on Saturday. I jogged one way over the Huguenot Bridge and power walked back!

Saturday night, I went over to Emily’s house in the Northside of town. It was a beautiful evening with lots of catching up and good wine!! We never got a great selfie pic together, so I ended up with these sillies:

Sunday was just as great!! I woke up early and decided to go for a walk down Monument Ave. All weekend long a collegiate Bicycle Race took place in RVA, closing down some of the roads. So, on my walk I caught one of the races taking place which was pretty cool!

Mass and the Farmer’s Market were next on the agenda. At the market I picked up some gorgeous rainbow Swiss chard, which I am using in a recipe I will be sharing later this week!

After whipping up an energizing smoothie and PBJ for lunch, I met my mom for the semi annual Fan Kitchen and Garden Tour! Unfortunately, there were no photos allowed on the tour, but the homes were beautiful! I just love the unique history that is part of each house in The Fan.

Apples were in the oats this morning! I haven’t been eating apples as much, because in my smoothies, I’ll have bananas and strawberries in there, and sometimes those alone meet my daily fruit intake!

I’m glad to be changing it up!

Have a great Monday!

Friday Night In

Happy Friday!! It was a looong week! Maybe it was due to all the rain we had? Luckily the last two days went by like that and sales were very good at work, all due to the ladies who participated in this year’s Historic Garden Week in Virginia. This weekend will wrap up the house tours. Take a look at one of the houses a fellow Richmond interior decorator beautifully designed here.

I have a TWO day weekend this weekend, as I like to call it when I have Saturdays off.

I have to admit, not having any set plans tonight made me a little anxious. While stopping into Ellwood Thompson’s I was thinking, “Oh god, it’s a beautiful night, and I don’t have anywhere to go and no one to meet?!” I frantically texted a friend to see if she wanted to grab a drink before meeting my other friend who was maaaybe going to meet up for a drink after eating dinner with her family.

Both of these scenarios fell through, but when I got home from work and took my shoes off, I felt better. I strolled down to the Cleveland Market, bought a bottle of Malbec, and enjoyed two glasses with an anti-pasti dinner from Ellwood’s. I don’t care who you are, there’s absolutely nothing better than cracking open a bottle of beer, pouring a glass of wine or sinking your teeth into a refreshing cocktail after a long and sucessful day (or week) of the daily grind.

Anyway, I don’t feel so sorry for myself anymore, because guess what, I have Saturday AND Sunday to be productive and have fun. I’ll just leave it at that.

New Gym

Good morning!

This week I joined the YMCA. I made the switch because ever since after the holidays when the horrific Winter set in, my workouts have not been consistent AT ALL. I blamed the weather; “Oh, Winter is for hibernating anyway, right?”

Since it has stopped snowing and the weather is getting progressively warmer, I still feel like I am lacking that motivation to sweat. Yeah, some weeks I was diligent with long power-walks outside, but then I would go days or even a whole week without exercising.

SO, I cancelled my membership with my old gym, which I will not name, and joined the Downtown YMCA in the heart of RVA.

The facility itself is so nice and clean, and the staff are super friendly. I hope to navigate through the group exercise classes and determine which ones are right for me.

Having already completed a 45 min. cardio workout this morning, I sort of forgot how GOOD it feels to workout my body! I feel like my head is a little more clear and I’m ready to take on this day.

It will certainly be a journey to get back to the fitness level I was at a couple years ago, but I’m ready to do it now!

Here’s a quote from Hugh Laurie I found through one of my favorite lifestyle blogs OhDearDrea:

“It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is every ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.”

So, everyone’s time can be now, and I think now, today, I’m ready to be the best version of myself for ME and the best version for others.
