New Gym

Good morning!

This week I joined the YMCA. I made the switch because ever since after the holidays when the horrific Winter set in, my workouts have not been consistent AT ALL. I blamed the weather; “Oh, Winter is for hibernating anyway, right?”

Since it has stopped snowing and the weather is getting progressively warmer, I still feel like I am lacking that motivation to sweat. Yeah, some weeks I was diligent with long power-walks outside, but then I would go days or even a whole week without exercising.ย

SO, I cancelled my membership with my old gym, which I will not name, and joined the Downtown YMCA in the heart of RVA.ย

The facility itself is so nice and clean, and the staff are super friendly. I hope to navigate through the group exercise classes and determine which ones are right for me.ย

Having already completed a 45 min. cardio workout this morning, I sort of forgot how GOOD it feels to workout my body! I feel like my head is a little more clear and I’m ready to take on this day.ย

It will certainly be a journey to get back to the fitness level I was at a couple years ago, but I’m ready to do it now!ย

Here’s a quote from Hugh Laurie I found through one of my favorite lifestyle blogs OhDearDrea:

“It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is every ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.”ย

So, everyone’s time can be now, and I think now, today, I’m ready to be the best version of myself for ME and the best version for others.ย
