It’s that time of year when you notice how the early Fall light gives a different perspective on the space in which you live, and you notice the days are not as long. It’s true. Summer is coming to a close, but with each season’s end, comes a new beginning.
Tonight, on the eve of the first day of Fall, I’m sharing the Behind The Design of Mark D. Sikes. Mark finds the most telling photographs of “chic people, glamorous places, and stylish things”, all of which most inspire him.
Sikes is loving navy blue right now, so much so, he wants to dress in it from head to toe!
Mark D. Sikes studied finance and economics, fancying a life in international business in college, but was drawn to a a job in retail that later evolved into a successful career in merchandising, store design, and marketing for several well-known apparel and home retailers.
In 2011, Mark relocated to L.A. from San Francisco, started an interior design firm, and launched a lifestyle blog, which is a daily record of what inspires him. Whether from his travels to Paris, his Hollywood Hills design project, or even what is inspiring him from Pinterest, Sikes has a unique eye for beauty.

The Navy Crush continues…
An early 19th century Federalist style house – very Great Gatsbyesque in my opinion!
Sikes also has his “Best Dressed” picks. A few from last night’s Emmy Awards:
From Spanish designer, Isabel Lopez-Quesada’s beach retreat:
Although he’s internationally inspired, Sikes has a deep affinity for his home country.
Mark also has his own clothing line, “M.D.S. Stripes“. Love this pinstripe midi!
And in sticking to his roots, Sikes shares an entire collection of apparel and home decor that he has gathered from retailers and designers around the world.
So, there’s a little bit about Mark D. Sikes! I encourage you to check him out. If anything, his taste in beauty is amazing. And know, you can always see what he’s up to when you need a Summer fix!
