Top 5 Songs for the Week

Happy Friday!

Here are the top 5 songs I’ve been listening to this week:

  1. “Mighty Love” by The Spinners

58a91501-f0b1-47f0-b871-93f5e37a0984

The Spinners always take me back to “long” car rides with my parents to Lexington, VA for  VMI football games. “Mighty Love” was Al’s pick song on TODAY the other day, and I’ve been nostalgically playing it ever since.

2. “By Your Side” by Sade

31e15770-618f-4856-82d3-e13304878189

Since I started working at Restoration Hardware, Sade’s lover’s lullaby “By Your Side” has been on rotation in the gallery, and when the song comes on, I sort of sink into a reflective, inspirational frame of mind for a few minutes at work. It’s a nice mental break.

3. “I Keep Forgettin'” by Michael McDonald

17c6a3ae-b7d2-4fb2-aad6-ac23d74ab024

This song just puts me in a good mood! It also makes me think about how the lead singer of a local Yacht Rock band here, raps to it, lol.

4. “She Drives Me Crazy’ by Fine Young Cannibals

79c25b65-c2dc-4619-8f86-bfd6a41d3484

For some reason, this song reminds me of my Aunt Bev, although she hardly ever drives me crazy! I vividly remember riding in the car with her when I was little, and this song may have come on the radio, and she said this was one of her favorite songs, “back in the day.” But then again, I was three when it came out!! Crazy!

5. Life Less Ordinary by Carbon Leaf

6e4ecf40-46ea-45a3-86db-a7b51cb54391

This song came on one of my favorite public radio stations, WNRN, the other day. I was instantly brought back to the infamous Friday Cheers early Summer evening concerts here in Richmond, where I heard Carbon Leaf many times.  In my early-mid twenties, I would go to these shows almost every Friday night. Maybe I should start that tradition up again this Summer?

Have a great weekend, friends!

XO,

Ellen
